------------------------------------------------------------------------------ | International Replay Baseball League - Founded October 30, 1973 | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ | ***************** IRBL NEWSLETTER # 618 ***************** 4-4-01 | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ....................................... IRBL Menu Program v8.00.01 As indicated by the email sent to all IRBL managers, you should have installed special LRDMENUP.ZIP file prior to installing LRD # 618 so you should now have an updated IRBL Menu Program installed. Please select menu option <5> and verify that you see the following: Program version: 8.00.01 Last update: 4-1-01 ...................................... Included with this newsletter are updated IRBL Rules changing the references from 2000 to 2001 and making adjustments to work with DMB v8. ...................................... NEW DIRECTIONS FOR PLAYING AN IRBL SERIES WITH DMB v8: I hope that I have prepared detailed enough directions in the revised IRBL Rules for playing an IRBL series using DMB v8 and the updated IRBL Menu Program. If you find anything unclear, please let me know and I will clarify it and revise the wording in the IRBL Rules as necessary. ...................................... NOTE ABOUT INSTALLING AN IRBL LRD: Whenever you install an IRBL LRD during the season, it will replace the IRBL DMB player files with the latest files from the Official League Office files. Please be sure that you have completed preparing and have emailed to the League Office all played series (the series ZIP file) (and if you made any changes to your team's computer manager profile, be sure you have exported and sent the League Office an updated instructions ZIP file) prior to installing the LRD because it will erase everything in the IRBL DMB player files. ...................................... 2001 IRBL Schedule in the DMB game: As detailed in the last newsletter, I re-entered the IRBL schedule into the DMB game coding games where the home team "appears" to play more that one game on the same day as game #1 or #2 or #3. As previously explained, since IRBL # 618 4-4-01 2 all player rest is reset prior to every IRBL series, each series stands alone as its own "season" and those other games appearing on the same "day" have no impact. ...................................... MARINERS home series: The MARINERS' manager, Dave Adams, is still without a computer. Please play all your road series against the MARINERS but do not play any of those series before the actual series date. ...................................... IRBL Manager Address List changes: eMail address change: Mike Boling (CUBS): mboling@planetkc.com (home) Telephone number change: Brian Meyers (BLUE JAYS): 011-2711-788-9792 (home) ...................................... I have attached an updated IRBL Manager Address List. ...................................... TEAM SEASON INSTRUCTIONS SETS: Along with this newsletter, you will find a set of the following instruction files for each team: 1) INSTRUCT.Txx 2) PITCHING.Txx 3) INACTIVE.Txx NOTE: The xx is the two digit IRBL team number. ...................................... Prior to each series, print (or view in a separate window) the road team's PITCHING, INACTIVE and INSTRUCT files to be sure you are using the latest instructions. The latest team computer manager profiles will always be pre- loaded into the IRBL DMB player files whenever you install the latest LRD. ...................................... MISSING TEAM INSTRUCTIONS: ANGELS and ORIOLES When I receive the above two team instructions sets, I will post a special LRD that will install them into the IRBL DMB player files. If receiving any of the above team instructions late causes you to submit a played series late, let me know and IRBL # 618 4-4-01 3 I will void the late series penalty (LSP). ...................................... I made an effort to carefully review each team instruction set with the following goals in mind: 1) To make sure that the instructions comply with IRBL Rules 2) To make sure that the instructions are as easy to read as possible (i.e., upper and lower case instead of all capital letters, separate line items for each special instruction and separate sections for road and home instructions) Unfortunately, due to the extra time it took to update the IRBL Menu Program and IRBL Rules to work with DMB v8, I could not review every lineup plan in detail to make sure that each team has an initial season lineup plan that will result in no player overages. I did spot check a few items on each plan and I did make sure that it "looked" like a careful plan was in place. Hopefully, the effort each manager made in preparing the plan and monitoring player usage during the season will avoid all overage penalties at the end of the season ......................................
