RULE CHANGE PROPOSAL CORRECTION: I had a major error in George Widenor's proposal in the last newsletter. It should have read "limited to 2 IP" (not GP). Therefore, I am voiding the current voting and resubmitting the following corrected proposal to a vote: POST-SEASON PITCHER USAGE PROPOSAL: Modify IRBL Rule # 20G3 to read: A pitcher who had <50 actual IP (do not use IRBL statistics) is limited to 2 IP in each post-season series. The proposal will pass if 2/3's of all votes received by the deadline are "FOR" the proposal. The deadline for submitting your vote is Dec. 30th. ...................................... My name is Mike Boling and I'm the new manager of the Cubs. I'm looking forward to getting to know you all in time and also to enjoying the IRBL. I am 45 years old, married with 2 children , a son Michael, 24 , who is serving in the Navy at this time aboard the USS Tarawa in the pacific fleet and a daughter Paige, 11, in school in the 5th grade. I am a computer operator for KCP&L a local electric utility and I've lived in the Kansas City area since 1978. I grew up in Terre Haute , IN where Larry Bird played his college ball. I have been involved in some way or other in replay style baseball games and leagues since the late 1960's and I think the IRBL is the right place to be at this stage of my life. It seems to be a stable, well-run league with experienced managers involved. I hope to be a vital member of the league for a long time to come. As far as the Cubs that I have undertaken, I am in need of a starting outfielder at this time and I have some extra catchers and relief pitchers to offer so anyone is more than welcome to make me "an offer I can't refuse". Please note that to be sure and get to me in a timely manner, add my work e-mail to your lists. It is wmb1889@kcpl.com. You can use both e-mails to make sure I get your note. Thanks for listening! Mike Boling ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Subject: The Trading Window is Open Date: Thu, 04 Dec 1997 13:04:24 -0800 From: Frank Hopkins To: All IRBL Managers I can't stand it! Here it is, the first week in December and the Red Sox haven't made a single trade. I have three first basemen. Jim Thome, Eric Karros, & Lee Stevens. I would like to trade at least one of them. Thome would be the most expensive, Stevens the least expensive (notice I did not say cheap). I also have some extra outfield AB's and some utility infielders. O.K., what am I looking for? I need help at 2B, 3B, and possibly catching time. Also could use some starting pitching and, as always, draft picks. First come (with a real offer), first served. I'll beat any offer Chip or Ricky make.
